The weakness was disclosed 11/06/2014 by Pietro Oliva (Website). The advisory is shared at wordpress.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2014-7958 since 10/07/2014. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.

By approaching the search of inurl:admin/htaccess/bpsunlock.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 13076 (WordPress BulletProof Security plugin Multiple Vulnerabilities).

Upgrading to version .50.6 eliminates this vulnerability.
