Untrusted search path vulnerability in Corel PDF Fusion allows local users to execute arbitrary code and conduct DLL hijacking attacks via a Trojan horse quserex.dll file that is located in the same folder as the file being processed.
The weakness was shared 01/15/2015 by Marcos Accossatto with Core Security (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-8396 since 10/22/2014. The exploitation is known to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1574 for this issue.
