Ajsquare ZeusCart 4.0 Backend admin/ cid sql injection

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability has been found in Ajsquare ZeusCart 4.0 and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown function of the file admin/ of the component Backend. The manipulation of the argument cid with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. The software constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in the administrative backend in ZeusCart 4 allow remote administrators to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the id parameter in a (1) disporders detail or (2) subadminmgt edit action or (3) cid parameter in an editcurrency action to admin/.

The weakness was shared 03/10/2015 (Website). The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2015-2183 since 03/02/2015. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.

A public exploit has been developed by Steffen Rösemann and been published before and not just after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 15 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k.

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.

The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at Exploit-DB (36159). The entries 74390 and 74396 are related to this item.
