IBM Tivoli Directory Server up to 6.3.0.22 cryptographic issues

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in IBM Tivoli Directory Server up to 6.3.0.22 (Directory Service Software). This issue affects an unknown code. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cryptographic issues vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-310. Impacted is integrity. The summary by CVE is:

GSKit in IBM Tivoli Directory Server (ITDS) 6.0 before 6.0.0.73-ISS-ITDS-IF0073, 6.1 before 6.1.0.66-ISS-ITDS-IF0066, 6.2 before 6.2.0.42-ISS-ITDS-IF0042, and 6.3 before 6.3.0.35-ISS-ITDS-IF0035 and IBM Security Directory Server (ISDS) 6.3.1 before 6.3.1.9-ISS-ISDS-IF0009 does not properly restrict TLS state transitions, which makes it easier for remote attackers to conduct cipher-downgrade attacks to EXPORT_RSA ciphers via crafted TLS traffic, related to the "FREAK" issue, a different vulnerability than CVE-2015-0204.

The weakness was disclosed 03/24/2015 by Karthikeyan Bhargavan with Prosecco (Website). The advisory is shared at www-01.ibm.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-0138 since 11/18/2014. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1600 for this issue.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 84423 (SUSE SLES11 Security Update : Java (SUSE-SU-2015:1086-3) (Bar Mitzvah) (FREAK)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family SuSE Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 370322 (IBM WebSphere Application Server Multiple Vulnerabilities (swg21963275), (swg21959083) and (swg21698613)).

Upgrading to version 6.3.0.23 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Vulnerability Center (SBV-49359) and Tenable (84423). The entries 68516, 68518, 74468 and 74748 are pretty similar.
