Apple MacOS X up to 10.10.2 Apache access control

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Apple MacOS X up to 10.10.2 (Operating System). Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code of the component Apache. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a access control vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-264. As an impact it is known to affect integrity.

The weakness was released 04/08/2015 by Martin Holst Swende as HT204659 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at This vulnerability is known as CVE-2013-5704 since 09/05/2013. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue. The advisory points out:

Multiple vulnerabilities existed in Apache versions prior to 2.4.10 and 2.2.29, including one that may allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code. These issues were addressed by updating Apache to versions 2.4.10 and 2.2.29

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 81401 (IBM WebSphere Application Server 8.0 < Fix Pack 10 Multiple Vulnerabilities (POODLE)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Web Servers and running in the context remote. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 350219 (Amazon Linux Security Advisory for httpd24: ALAS-2015-483).

Upgrading to version 10.10.3 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (92235), SecurityTracker (ID 1032048), Vulnerability Center (SBV-57761) and Tenable (81401). Entries connected to this vulnerability are available at 12741, 67790, 68435 and 68668.
