Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the WddxPacket::recursiveAddVar function in HHVM (aka the HipHop Virtual Machine) before 3.5.0 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a crafted string to the wddx_serialize_value function.

The weakness was shared 04/13/2015 by Paul (Website). The advisory is available at phabricator.wikimedia.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-9714 since 04/07/2015. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
