A vulnerability has been found in Mozilla Firefox up to 37.0.1 (Web Browser) and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function AsyncPaintWaitEvent::AsyncPaintWaitEvent
of the component HTML Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a race condition vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-362. The product contains a code sequence that can run concurrently with other code, and the code sequence requires temporary, exclusive access to a shared resource, but a timing window exists in which the shared resource can be modified by another code sequence that is operating concurrently. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The weakness was released 04/21/2015 as MFSA 2015-45 as confirmed security advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at mozilla.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2015-2706 since 03/25/2015. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
