The weakness was presented 04/29/2015 by Dimitri Kirchner and Goulven Guiheux as ClamAV 0.98.7 has been released! as confirmed release notes (Blog). The advisory is shared for download at blog.clamav.net. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2015-2668 since 03/20/2015. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 83976 (Amazon Linux AMI : clamav (ALAS-2015-537)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Amazon Linux Local Security Checks.
