The history implementation in WebKit, as used in Apple Safari before 6.2.6, 7.x before 7.1.6, and 8.x before 8.0.6, allows remote attackers to bypass the Same Origin Policy and read arbitrary files via a crafted web site.

The weakness was published 05/04/2015 by Joe Vennix with Rapid7 as HT204826 as confirmed advisory (Website) via ZDI (Zero Day Initiative). It is possible to read the advisory at support.apple.com. The public release has been coordinated with Apple. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-1155 since 01/16/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
