Buffer overflow in the XML parser in Mozilla Firefox before 38.0, Firefox ESR 31.x before 31.7, and Thunderbird before 31.7 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by providing a large amount of compressed XML data.
The weakness was released 05/12/2015 by Ucha Gobejishvili (laf.intel) with Intel as MFSA 2015-54 as confirmed security advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at mozilla.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2015-2716 since 03/25/2015. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
