A vulnerability was found in IBM Domino up to 8.5.3 FP5/9.0.1 FP2 (Groupware Software). It has been declared as critical. Stack-based buffer overflow in IBM Domino 8.5 before 8.5.3 FP6 IF7 and 9.0 before 9.0.1 FP3 IF3 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted BMP image, aka SPR KLYH9TSN3Y.
The weakness was published 05/20/2015 by bilou with Zero Day Initiative as KLYH9TSN3Y as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at www-01.ibm.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2015-1903 since 02/19/2015. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 370188 (IBM Domino Multiple Vulnerabilities (swg21883245)).
Upgrading to version 8.5.3 FP6 or 9.0.1 FP3 eliminates this vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 20419.
