The weakness was presented 06/11/2015 by Jan Beulich with SuSE as XSA-134 as confirmed security advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at xenbits.xen.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2015-4163 since 06/02/2015. An attack has to be approached locally. The successful exploitation needs a single authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 84169 (Debian DSA-3286-1 : xen - security update), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Debian Local Security Checks and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 370035 (Citrix XenServer Security Update (CTX201145)).

Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at xenbits.xen.org. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
