A vulnerability was found in Swiftkey Keyboard on Samsung Galaxy (Forum Software) (affected version unknown). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown functionality of the file /data/dalvik-cache of the component Language Pack Update. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Directory traversal vulnerability in the SwiftKey language-pack update implementation on Samsung Galaxy S4, S4 Mini, S5, and S6 devices allows remote web servers to write to arbitrary files, and consequently execute arbitrary code in a privileged context, by leveraging control of the skslm.swiftkey.net domain name and providing a .. (dot dot) in an entry in a ZIP archive, as demonstrated by a traversal to the /data/dalvik-cache directory.
The weakness was released 06/19/2015 by ryan with NowSecure (Website). The advisory is shared at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2015-4641 since 06/17/2015.
