The public release was coordinated in cooperation with Apple. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-3750 since 05/07/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1211 according to MITRE ATT&CK. The advisory points out:
An issue existed where Content Security Policy report requests would not honor HTTP Strict Transport Security.

The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 168651 (OpenSuSE Security Update for Security webkit2gtk3 (openSUSE-SU-2016:0761-1)).
Upgrading to version 6.2.8, 7.1.8 or 8.0.8 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. The advisory contains the following remark:
This issue was addressed through improved HTTP Strict Transport Security enforcement.
