The weakness was published 09/08/2015 as MS15-103 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is shared at technet.microsoft.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-2544 since 03/19/2015. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 85883 (MS15-103: Vulnerabilities in Microsoft Exchange Server Could Allow Information Disclosure (3089250)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows : Microsoft Bulletins. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 53001 (Microsoft Exchange Server Information Disclosure Vulnerabilities (MS15-103)).

Applying the patch MS15-103 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at technet.microsoft.com.
