Mozilla Firefox before 42.0 and Firefox ESR 38.x before 38.4 allow remote attackers to bypass the Same Origin Policy for an IP address origin, and conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks, by appending whitespace characters to an IP address string.

The weakness was released 11/03/2015 as MFSA 2015-12 as confirmed security advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at mozilla.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-7188 since 09/16/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1211 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
