CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability was found in Oracle Enterprise Manager 12.4.0.2/12.5.0.2 (Software Management Software). It has been classified as critical. This affects an unknown functionality of the component Application Testing Suite. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a directory traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The software uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the software does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, and integrity.

The weakness was presented 01/20/2016 with Oracle as Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory - January 2016 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at oracle.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2016-0492 since 12/09/2015. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1006 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

A public exploit has been developed by Metasploit and been published 5 months after the advisory. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The exploit is shared for download at exploit-db.com. We expect the 0-day to have been worth approximately $5k-$25k.

Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 21338.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Vulnerability Center (SBV-55876) and Exploit-DB (39852). See 79828, 80389, 80556 and 80402 for similar entries.
