Directory traversal vulnerability in modules.php in Coppermine Photo Gallery 1.2.2b and 1.2.0 RC4 allows remote attackers with administrative privileges to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the startdir parameter.
The weakness was disclosed 04/29/2004 by Janek Vind "waraxe" with waraxe (Website). The advisory is shared for download at waraxe.us. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2004-1986. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details and a exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592.
