Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in Claroline 1.8.3 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the PATH_INFO (PHP_SELF) to (1) index.php, (2) demo/claroline170/index.php, and possibly other scripts.

The weakness was presented 03/11/2007 by Fernando Munoz (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at claroline.net. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2007-3517 since 07/03/2007. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

After immediately, there has been an exploit disclosed. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:demo/claroline170/index.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
