The weakness was disclosed 06/16/2016 as MS16-083 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is shared for download at technet.microsoft.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-4154 since 04/27/2016. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 91671 (Adobe Flash Player for Mac <= 21.0.0.242 Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB16-18)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family MacOS X Local Security Checks and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 370060 (Adobe Flash Player Remote Code Execution Vulnerability (APSA16-03) (APSB16-18)).

Applying the patch MS16-083 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at technet.microsoft.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
