phpMyAdmin 4.0.x before 4.0.10.16, 4.4.x before 4.4.15.7, and 4.6.x before 4.6.3 allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information via vectors involving (1) an array value to FormDisplay.php, (2) incorrect data to validate.php, (3) unexpected data to Validator.php, (4) a missing config directory during setup, or (5) an incorrect OpenID identifier data type, which reveals the full path in an error message.
The weakness was shared 07/03/2016 by Emanuel Bronshtein (Website). The advisory is shared at phpmyadmin.net. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2016-5730 since 06/21/2016. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1592 for this issue.

The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 11677 (phpMyAdmin Multiple Security Vulnerabilities (PMASA-2016-27, PMASA-2016-23)).
Upgrading to version 4.0.10.16, 4.4.15.7 or 4.6.3 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
