SQL injection vulnerability in forumrunner/includes/moderation.php in vBulletin before 4.2.2 Patch Level 5 and 4.2.3 before Patch Level 1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the postids parameter to forumrunner/request.php, as exploited in the wild in July 2016.
The weakness was shared 08/30/2016 (Website). The advisory is shared at vbulletin.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2016-6195. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.

By approaching the search of inurl:forumrunner/includes/moderation.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 11672 (vBulletin ForumRunner SQL Injection Vulnerability).
Applying the patch 4.2.2 PL5/4.2.3 PL1 is able to eliminate this problem.
