A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in B. Braun SpaceStation 1.4.0. Affected by this issue is an unknown functionality of the file /spacecom/login.php of the component Web Interface. The manipulation of the argument forward with the input value https://www.scip.ch leads to a redirect vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-601. A web application accepts a user-controlled input that specifies a link to an external site, and uses that link in a Redirect. This simplifies phishing attacks. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

The bug was discovered 03/08/2016. The weakness was shared 05/23/2017 by Marc Ruef and Rocco Gagliardi with scip AG as VulDB 91694 / ICSMA-17-082-02 as confirmed entry (VulDB). The advisory is available at vuldb.com. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-6018. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 09/19/2022). This vulnerability is assigned to T1204.001 by the MITRE ATT&CK project. This vulnerability has a historic impact due to its background and reception.

A public exploit has been developed by Marc Ruef/Rocco Gagliardi in URL and been published immediately after the advisory. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The exploit is available at vuldb.com. By approaching the search of inurl:spacecom/login.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.

Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at ftp.bbmus.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. The vendor is planning to fix this and other issues in the upcoming software release.
