mod_cluster, as used in Red Hat JBoss Web Server 2.1, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (Apache http server crash) via an MCMP message containing a series of = (equals) characters after a legitimate element.
The bug was discovered 09/29/2016. The weakness was published 09/26/2016 by Michal Karm Babacek (Website). The advisory is available at rhn.redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-3110 since 03/10/2016. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
