The manipulation of the argument batch_name with the input value invalid%27%20UNION%20ALL%20SELECT%20NULL,%20username%20AS%20batch_name,%20NULL,%20password%20AS%20batch_status,%20NULL,%20NULL,%20NULL,%20NULL,%20NULL,%20NULL,%20NULL,%20NULL,%20NULL,%20NULL%20FROM%20operators%3B%23 leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

The bug was discovered 09/04/2016. The weakness was shared 10/25/2016 by James Fraser and Avinash Duduskar as daloRADIUS 0.9-9 - Multiple vulnerabilities leading to arbitrary shell execution as confirmed mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is available at seclists.org. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1505 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

A public exploit has been developed by James Fraser/Avinash Duduskar in URL and been published immediately after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at seclists.org. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 45 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:include/common/notificationsBatchDetails.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.

Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. A possible mitigation has been published before and not just after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
