A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in FFmpeg up to 1.2.1 (Multimedia Processing Software). This issue affects the function get_qcx of the file libavcodec/jpeg2000dec.c. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.

Applying the patch 39313 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at patches.libav.org. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
