A vulnerability has been found in CA Unified Infrastructure Management up to 8.4 SP1 and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code of the file download_lar.jsp. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. The weakness was shared 11/10/2016 by rgod as CA20161109-01: Security Notice for CA Unified Infrastructure Management as confirmed mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure) via ZDI (Zero Day Initiative). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2016-5803.
