WebExtensions can bypass security checks to load privileged URLs and potentially escape the WebExtension sandbox. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 50.
The weakness was shared 11/15/2016 as MFSA 2016-89 as confirmed security advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at mozilla.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2016-9073. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
