The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2013-1345 since 01/12/2013. The exploitability is told to be difficult. Attacking locally is a requirement. The requirement for exploitation is a authentication. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. It is assigned to the family Windows : Microsoft Bulletins. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 90894 (Microsoft Windows Kernel-Mode Drivers Remote Code Execution (MS13-053)).
Applying the patch MS13-053 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at technet.microsoft.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
