An issue was discovered in the Tatsuya Kinoshita w3m fork before 0.5.3-31. Heap-based buffer overflow in the addMultirowsForm function in w3m allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted HTML page.

The bug was discovered 11/18/2016. The weakness was presented 12/12/2016 (Website). The advisory is available at openwall.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2016-9425 since 11/18/2016. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
