A vulnerability has been found in Google Chrome up to 27.0.1453.116 (Web Browser) and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code of the component JPEG2000 File Handler. Google Chrome before 28.0.1500.71 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read) via a crafted JPEG2000 image.

The weakness was shared 07/09/2013 by Felix Groebert (danguafer) with Google Security Team as not defined changelog entry (Website). The advisory is available at googlechromereleases.blogspot.dk. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-2869 since 04/11/2013. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 05/18/2021). It is expected to see the exploit prices for this product increasing in the near future.
