kernel/events/core.c in the performance subsystem in the Linux kernel before 4.0 mismanages locks during certain migrations, which allows local users to gain privileges via a crafted application, aka Android internal bug 30955111.
The bug was discovered 12/23/2016. The weakness was presented 12/28/2016 (Website). The advisory is shared at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2016-6786 since 08/11/2016. An attack has to be approached locally. A single authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
