Memory leak in hw/9pfs/9p.c in QEMU (aka Quick Emulator) allows local privileged guest OS users to cause a denial of service (host memory consumption and possibly QEMU process crash) by leveraging a missing cleanup operation in FileOperations.
The bug was discovered 12/29/2016. The weakness was disclosed 12/29/2016 by Prasad J Pandit (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at git.qemu.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2016-9914 since 12/08/2016. Attacking locally is a requirement. A simple authentication is necessary for exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
