The bug was discovered 01/11/2017. The weakness was presented 01/15/2017 by Security Team with WordPress Security Team (oss-sec). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-5488 since 01/14/2017. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
