Google Chrome prior to 56.0.2924.76 for Linux, Windows and Mac, failed to prevent alerts from being displayed by swapped out frames, which allowed a remote attacker to show alerts on a page they don t control via a crafted HTML page.

The bug was discovered 01/25/2017. The weakness was released 01/25/2017 by Armin Razmdjou (Paul) with Tresorit as Stable Channel Update for Desktop, January 2017 as confirmed release notes (Website). The advisory is available at chromereleases.googleblog.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-5026 since 01/02/2017. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 08/03/2020). It is expected to see the exploit prices for this product increasing in the near future.This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
