Buffer overflow in the readgifimage function in gif2tiff.c in the gif2tiff tool in LibTIFF 4.0.6 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (segmentation fault) via a crafted gif file.
The bug was discovered 02/06/2017. The weakness was presented 02/06/2017 by Henri Salo (Website). The advisory is shared at bugzilla.maptools.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2016-5102 since 05/26/2016. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
