The qtdemux_parse_samples function in gst/isomp4/qtdemux.c in gst-plugins-good in GStreamer before 1.10.3 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds heap read) via vectors involving the current stts index.

The bug was discovered 01/15/2017. The weakness was disclosed 02/09/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-5840 since 02/01/2017. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
