A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Teleopti WFM 7.1.0. This affects an unknown code of the component Administration. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The weakness was disclosed 02/05/2017 by Graph-X as Teleopti WFM <= 7.1.0 Multiple Vulnerabilities as confirmed mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with Teleopti. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2017-20111. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
A public exploit has been developed by Graph-X and been published immediately after the advisory. The exploit is shared for download at seclists.org. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 14 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k.
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability. The mailinglist post contains the following remark:
I want to sincerely thank Teleopti for being so responsive in fixing the vulnerabilities reported. This is the FASTEST I have ever received a) a response from a vendor regarding security flaws and b) the quickest turn around in providing a solution.
The entries VDB-96805 and VDB-96806 are pretty similar. Statistical analysis made it clear that VulDB provides the best quality for vulnerability data.
