The management console on the Symantec Web Gateway (SWG) appliance before 5.1.1 has an incorrect sudoers file, which allows local users to bypass intended access restrictions via a command.

The bug was discovered 12/18/2012. The weakness was shared 07/25/2013 by Wolfgang Ettlingers with SEC Consult Unternehmensberatung GmbH as confirmed mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at seclists.org. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-4672 since 06/24/2013. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack needs to be done within the local network. Additional levels of successful authentication are needed for exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

A public exploit has been developed by SEC Consult and been published 1 days after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at seclists.org. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
