Multiple Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) issues were discovered in EPESI 1.8.1.1. The vulnerabilities exist due to insufficient filtration of user-supplied data (state, element, id, tab, cid) passed to the "EPESI-master/modules/Utils/RecordBrowser/favorites.php" URL. An attacker could execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a browser in the context of the vulnerable website.
The bug was discovered 03/05/2017. The weakness was released 03/05/2017 by Venustech with Adlab of Venustech (GitHub Repository). The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-6487 since 03/05/2017. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
