The sdhci_sdma_transfer_multi_blocks function in hw/sd/sdhci.c in QEMU (aka Quick Emulator) allows local OS guest privileged users to cause a denial of service (infinite loop and QEMU process crash) via vectors involving the transfer mode register during multi block transfer.
The bug was discovered 03/20/2017. The weakness was released 03/20/2017 by Jiang Xin with Huawei (oss-sec). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2017-5987 since 02/14/2017. The attack needs to be approached locally. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
