Multiple issues existed in PHP before 5.6.30. These were addressed by updating PHP to version 5.6.30.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 5 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 97052 (Debian DLA-818-1 : php5 security update), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Debian Local Security Checks and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 370348 (Apple Mac OS X Security Update Sierra 10.12.4, El Capitan 2017-001 and Yosemite 2017-001 Not Installed (APPLE-SA-2017-03-27-3)).
Upgrading to version 10.12.4 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
