The weakness was disclosed 03/16/2017 by David Wearing as Axis Camera Multiple Vulnerabilities as confirmed mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared for download at seclists.org. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-20048. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.

The exploit is available at seclists.org. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 112 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k.

Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability.
