Multiple issues existed in SQLite. These issues were addressed by updating SQLite to version 3.15.2.

The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 28 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 100025 (Apple iTunes < 12.6 Multiple Vulnerabilities (credentialed check)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows and running in the context local. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 370347 (Apple iTunes Prior to 12.6 Multiple Vulnerabilities (APPLE-SA-2017-03-22-1) and (APPLE-SA-2017-03-22-2)).

Upgrading to version 12.6 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
