| Title | D-Link DIR-513 V1.0 Buffer Overflow |
|---|
| Description | The D-Link DIR-513 device utilizes the boa web server to handle HTTP requests. During this process, the function formLanSetupRouterSettings is registered as a callback handler via the websAspInit initialization function. This function is triggered by a POST request to the endpoint:
/goform/formLanSetupRouterSettings.
Within this function, user input from the curTime parameter in the POST request body is retrieved and subsequently passed to the sprintf() function in the following line
sprintf(v35, "/Basic/Network.asp?t=%s", Var);
Here, Var contains the user-controlled curTime value.
Due to the lack of input length validation, an attacker can provide an overly long value for curTime, leading to a stack-based buffer overflow. This overflow can overwrite the return address on the stack, resulting in:
Denial of Service (DoS) — the boa process crashes due to a segmentation fault.
Remote Code Execution (RCE) — under certain conditions, an attacker may exploit the overflow to gain control over the execution flow and potentially obtain a shell on the device. |
