| Title | D-Link dir-823X 250416 A logical flaw in the authentication mechanism exists |
|---|
| Description | A logical flaw in the authentication mechanism exists in the D-Link DIR-823X(250416) router firmware. The vulnerability is located within the core authentication function, sub_40AC74, which handles login verification. Although the system employs the HMAC-SHA256 encryption algorithm to protect credentials during transit, it fails to implement adequate rate-limiting or anti-brute-force controls. Combined with the risk of information leakage regarding default weak credentials, this flaw allows an attacker to perform highly efficient brute-force attacks to gain unauthorized administrative access to the device. |
