विवरणA heap-buffer-overflow vulnerability exists in Assimp's 3DGS MDL7 bone transformation key parser within the Assimp::MDLImporter::ParseBoneTrafoKeys_3DGS_MDL7() function atMDLLoader.cpp:1691. The flaw is caused by missing buffer boundary validation when iterating over bone transformation data. The function relies on the untrusted `transmatrix_count` value read directly from the MDL7 file to control loop iterations, and increments the `pcBoneTransforms` pointer by a fixed structure size in each cycle without checking whether the pointer stays within the valid bounds of the allocated file buffer. A maliciously crafted or truncated MDL7 file can force the pointer beyond the valid frame data region, triggering an out-of-bounds 2-byte heap memory read. This vulnerability results in memory corruption and application crash, and remote attackers can exploit this issue via a specially crafted MDL model file to conduct denial-of-service (DoS) attacks.
