SSH nelle versioni 1.2.25, 1.2.23 e altre, quando utilizzato in modalità CBC (Cipher Block Chaining) o CFB (Cipher Feedback a 64 bit), consente agli attaccanti remoti di inserire dati arbitrari in un flusso esistente tra un client SSH e il server sfruttando un attacco con testo noto (known plaintext attack) e calcolando una checksum CRC-32 valida per il pacchetto, nota come "SSH insertion attack".
