Un buffer overflow nella funzione t2p_write_pdf_string di tiff2pdf presente in libtiff 3.8.2 e versioni precedenti consente agli attaccanti di causare un denial of service (crash) ed eventualmente eseguire codice arbitrario tramite un file TIFF contenente un tag DocumentName con caratteri UTF-8, che attiva l'overflow quando un carattere viene esteso al segno a intero producendo più cifre del previsto in una chiamata sprintf.
