L'implementazione del file watch nel sottosistema di audit (auditctl -w) nel kernel 2.6.9 di Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 4 consente agli utenti locali di causare un denial of service (kernel panic) sostituendo un file monitorato, senza che il watch sull'inode vecchio venga rimosso.
